How i work with words (and with you)
Respecting your voice. Honouring your story. Polishing your prose.
At LFP Editorial Studio, every project begins with curiosity and care. I listen closely to your voice, your aims, and your creative intent. I work gently, yet precisely, to help your writing shine without ever losing its soul.
Whether you’re preparing a novel, a thought leadership article, a funding proposal, or a personal essay, I’ll bring a clear editorial eye to your words, offering thoughtful feedback, technical polish, and warm encouragement along the way.
This page offers a guide to how I work, what to expect from the editing process, and a selection of resources to support you.

Precision and care, from first draft to final polish
The editing process, step by step
1. Send your brief
Use the Contact page to send the details of your project. I will need to know your word count, deadline, and whether you need proofreading or copy editing.
2. Receive your quote
I’ll review your brief and send a tailored quotation. Once confirmed, you’ll receive an invoice for 50% of the total fee to secure your booking. Editing begins once this deposit is received.
4. Final delivery
You’ll receive the polished document, along with a short note summarising the work completed. The remaining 50% of your fee is due within 7 days of delivery.
Turnaround times vary. For Editing for Writers, short pieces (such as stories or essays) are typically returned within 7–10 days. For longer or more complex projects, I’ll offer a clear timeline upfront so you always know what to expect.
3. Editing in progress
I’ll complete the work by the agreed deadline. Your document will be returned with improvements in clarity, tone, and accuracy, plus any gentle suggestions where helpful.
Faqs
What’s the difference between proofreading and copy editing?
Proofreading focuses on correcting spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Copy editing goes further, improving flow, structure, and tone while respecting your voice.Do you edit unfinished or ‘messy’ drafts?
Absolutely. It doesn’t need to be perfect - that’s where I come in. If you’re feeling unsure or stuck, send what you have, and we’ll take it from there.
Do you edit writing supported by tools like ChatGPT?
Yes - I edit every piece with the same focus on clarity, tone, and structure, no matter how it was first drafted. Whether your words arrived via pen, keyboard, or software, I’ll make sure they sound like you.
Is my document confidential?
Absolutely. Every project is handled with discretion and care. You can read more about this in my Privacy Notice (found near the bottom of the Contact page.)What if I’m not sure what level of editing I need?
No problem! Just get in touch and I’ll advise on the best service for your needs.
